Organic Chemistry Grignard Reaction using phynylmagnesium bromide as reagant.

I am having trouble finding the starting material for these reactions. I think the first one is an OH bonded to an ethyl group, but I might be wrong. Thanks for any *delete me*

In problem (a) the product has one more carbon atom than the starting material, but ethyl groups have two carbons.  Two, what functional group do you think that the carbon should have in order to react with a Grignard reagent.
