Chemical Equation Help?
« on: October 20, 2015, 10:27:21 AM »
I just did the "Salted Paper Process" experiment in my chemistry lab and now I have to write out the chemical reactions for the lab report. If you are unfamiliar with the experiment this is it:

http://dulce-photography.com/blog/2010/0...

The compositions of the solutions are as follows:

Gelatin Salting Solution: Water (280 mL), Gelatin (2.0g), Sodium Citrate (6.0g), NH4Cl (6.0g)

Sensitizing Solution: Water (30 mL), AgNO3 (4.0g)

Fixing Solution: Water (500mL), Na2S2O3 * 5H2O (55g)

I need to write a chemical equation for...

1) When the gelatin reacts with the sensitizing solution (chloride crystals precipitate)

2) When the print is exposed to light (silver chloride reduced)

3) When the print is washed with tap water (tap water contains a chloride ion)

4) When the print is fixed in the fixing solution (desensitizes paper)

I really don t know where to start this, any help would be much appreciated!  :-\

You have to show your attempts at solving the question to receive help.

Saying something like, "I don't get kinetics can you explain it to me" or "what is a Clausius-Clapeyron equation?" will get you negative responses on this forum. There is no reason to ask a question cold with the amount of information available everywhere on the web. First try to look it up – use google or wikipedia – and come here once you get to the point you don't understand something. Asking question without even trying to research it first is just a sign of laziness, nothing else.
