Phenyl Isocyanates
« on: October 21, 2015, 01:29:08 PM »
I am performing a reaction that uses this compound; it is a liquid at room temp.  The bottle it comes in has no septum, it's open mouth after you unscrew the lid.  Whenever I've used aldehydes, I always distill them (if they're liquid at room temp).

You think it is necessary to distill this compound?  I ask because it is an especially hazardous compound (at least according to the bottle).

I've never used this particular isocynate, but others I've used straight out of the bottle with little to no problem.
When in doubt, avoid the Stille coupling.

I've used butyl isocyanate straight out of the bottle dozens of times. Works like a charm! ;)
