Anyone how to synthesise succinyl chloride?

So I wonder how do you produce such thing and is it patented and I can be sued for it?

Can I use succinit acid to synthesise succinyl chloride directly via Thionylchloride?

I think so, or use phosphorous chloride.

You shouldn't be in any legal trouble as long as you aren't using some patented (novel) method for making it and aren't using the product in a commercial capacity. 
Oxalyl/phosphorus/thionyl ect chloride methods of making acid chlorides are well known and won't be covered in a patent for making succinyl chloride.
