Does Xylene dissolve in water:acetonitrile 50:50?
« on: November 22, 2015, 11:49:57 AM »
I know that xylene is practically insoluble in water but it is miscible with acetonitrile, and water is miscible with acetonitrile. What would happen if for instance I want to prepare a 500 ppm solution of xylene in a 50:50 mixture of water and acetonitrile?  ???

At the low level you're working at, you should be just fine.  Higher levels could definitely get you a two phase mixture.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
