OK.  Why.  Its easily purchased.  What starting materials are available to you?  What is the purpose of your organic synthesis?

Kindly trouble yourself to read the Forum Rules, posted in red at the top of every page.  We'd like to help you learn, but you have to put some effort in yourself.

Industrially, xylenes are produced by the methylation of benzene and toluene.  Do you have a supply of those?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
