chemistry question
« on: January 10, 2016, 08:06:58 AM »
Depending on the indicator chosen in the titration of a known concentration of of Na2CO3 against dilute HCl, the following equations can be used to calculate the molarity of the acid:

1) Na2CO3(aq) + 2HCl(aq) :rarrow: 2NaCl(aq) + H2O(l) + CO2(g)

2) Na2CO3(aq) +2HCl(aq)  :rarrow: NaCl(aq) + NaHCO3(aq)

Explain why the two different equations can be used for the calculation of the molarity of the acid.

Show your own attempt first.
PS: Second equation is wrong
