How do you simply make up an equation if you're not given anything but the names?

Please be more specific. How are we suppose to answer that?
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

I suppose the question is about how to translate "silver nitrate reacts with sodium chloride yielding silver chloride and sodium nitrate" into

AgNO3 + NaCl -> AgCl + NaNO3

Just start with writing all named compounds formulas.

Yep, so how do I write out the whole equation for the reaction?

It would be Na2C10H14N2O8 + CaCO3 (Or just straight Ca?)  --->  (??) ... Then I dont know how to figure out the next part...

It depends on the pH in the solution. Generally, you set pH at 10. Hence, the chemical equation is:

Ca2+ + Y4- -> CaY2-

or, put in other words,

Ca2+ + Na4N2(CH2COO)4 -> 4Na+ + CaN2(CH2COO)42-
