PQ for FTIR for Industry Use
« on: March 11, 2016, 01:43:59 PM »
I work for a company that has just purchased an 630 FTIR instrument from Agilent accompanied by MicroLab.  We have had the instrument IQ'd and OQ'd; however we haven't had much experience in the PQ process of this instrument.  I've looked around and haven't found any information on this procedure.

Can anybody help with this issue?
We will effectively be using the FTIR on new raw materials to match them to a standards library that we will setup in MicroLab.

This is a complex subject, but I'll give you some insights to begin thinking about the problem,  A performance qualification is meant to determine the the system meets the requirements you say it does, and achieves the goals you need it to achieve to meet the results you claim.

Example: you have a raw material, you would reject it if the vendor sent you something contaminated, say as much as 1% of a breakdown product, or related chemical.  You'll be called upon to determine the the system actually does that: you'll deliberately contaminate some pure standard with a detectable impurity and show that the system can detect it.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
