Highest energy Shell K or N?
« on: March 28, 2016, 06:51:07 AM »
Hello
I am studying for a test that overlaps a little with chemistry. Maybe one of you guys can help me? thank u

1. What Highest energy shell?  K L M N ?
Answer given is N but people disagree
"Outermost Shell given i.e. K, L, M, N – N is the answer Reason is Highest Energy – so most unstable electron- that’s y it’s the easiest to remove from the electronic shells"

2. What has highest power? KLMN?

3. What has highest bonding energy?

Thank you

Yes that's correct .It will be better if you can give reason by yourself . Let me ask you some basic questions .
What K,L,M,N signifies ?? Which one is most near to the the nucleus ??

Do you know about Electric potential energy of two charge system ? If one of them is positively charged(Nucleus) and other one is negatively charged (electron ) what will be the expression and how it will depend upon the distance(separation) ?? See from expression,  at infinite separation what will be the potential energy of the system .
