low melt Tin/Bismuth alloy react with acetone?
« on: May 05, 2016, 07:00:41 PM »
I am kinda concerned about a reaction between my 60% tin and 40% bismuth alloy mix reacting with acetone bath.

I have researched on google and found some papers that included Bismuth and acetone key words, but they are way over my head. I don't remember a thing from high school chemistry.

long story short I am pouring a core in to a 3 part mold with the tin/bismuth alloy around a super glued 2 part machined aluminum shell and the only way to part the mold without damage is a acetone bath.

Are there any reactions I should be worried about there? Sorry if this a easily googled answer, I just want to be safe.
