What is the structure for dimethyl thiol ??
« on: May 16, 2006, 07:33:09 PM »
I am trying to figure out the structure fo dimethyl thiol. I can't find anything in my book, or on the internet.
I think it is CH3-SH-CH3. Am I right?
Also is it soluble in water? I think it may be because it has a H atom attached to the S so it would be able to
hydrogen bond with water. Am I righ on this?
Anu help would be great.
Thank you

From organic nomenclature point of view - dimethyl thiol  does not exist.  There are methyl thiol, or dimethyl thioether.

Thank you Thank you !! I knew I wasn't crazy, my professor always makes mistakes when giving homework,
and we students go crazy racking our brains to figure things out that are mistakes in the first place.
Again, thank you.
