Question about first aldol reaction
« on: March 18, 2017, 01:23:55 PM »
I wanna write a review about aldol reaction for my organic chemistry course requirement. But when I was finding the first trial of aldol reaction, I found two different answers. Wikipedia says that first aldol reaction was finished by  Alexander Borodin in 1869 and Wurtz in 1872 separately.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldol_reaction) However, a book (Strategic Application of Named Reaction in Organic Synthesis) gives a reference in 1838 by Robert Kane... So I wonder who had firstly finished this reaction?
Another question... The abbreviation of the journal that has information about first aldol reaction is Ann. Phys. Chem. Ser..However, I can't find the full name and publisher of that journal...Could u plz give me some more information about this journal so that I can find that reference...
Thanks for your reading... Looking forward to your reply.

You could easily say that the first examples of aldol reaction are Borodin, Wurtz and Kane.
