Help with Mechanisms!!

Hi, I am having some trouble with my organic chemistry and this problem involving two different reaction mechanisms. I understand that one can rearrange and the other cannot, but I do not know how to do the proper mechanisms of each (I can't find any similar problems in my notes). Can anyone help me with this? Thanks so much!

if you use H+, it will be rearranged. Products of this must be 1,2-dimethylbut-2-ol.
