Decomposition substances of SLES
« on: April 06, 2017, 12:17:25 PM »
Which decomposition (thermal) substances could I expect when Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES) is heated to around 200-250 ÂșC for a couple of minutes in a humid environment? I hope someone can explain me which reactions can occur.

Elimination alpha to the sulfate to give an alkene perhaps?

The PEG part can also homolytically cleave under thermal conditions I believe
