I am not sure how to name these compounds... I know to start with finding the longest carbon chain but I am really stuck on what these compounds are. Any help is really appreciated!!!!

For the first diagram, there are 5 carbons in the ring so the parent name would be cyclopentene. There is an ethyl group and a methyl group on I think numbers 1 and 3 (not too sure how the numbering would work but am trying!) so I think the name would be 1,3-dimethylcyclopentene. Is this correct?

For the second the carbon chain is 3 long so the parent name would be propene, with methyl groups on the third carbon. I am not sure how to consider the triple bond or how to consider the two methyl groups on each end. Any help is appreciated!

It can't be "dimethyl" if there are two different chains (methyl and ethyl).

Triple bond is a part of the longest chain.

Oh yes I see. So it would be 1-ethyl-3-methylcyclopentene?

I am still struggling for the second diagram. How do you name a triple bond and add in the two methyl groups on each end of the structure?
