I've been trying to find a reasonably cheap source of methanol recently. I am attempting to make long lasting coffee-can fires that will be colored by other chemicals like lithium, barium and copper chlorides. Methanol, the above mentioned chlorides and a steel wool as a wick is what i believe i will need, but I am lacking the methanol. Does anyone suppose that ethylene glycol or any of the other ingredients in anti-freeze would pose a problem if i decided to try and burn that? Or does anyone have an idea where I can obtain methanol, for a reasonably cheap price?
