Thank you everyone for your excellent input. I did another experiment today and I got a product yield of 85%! (The ideal value was 80-90%.) However, after doing an analysis of my product's melting point, I found that I had a notable amount of impurities; my melting point range was stretched over 6 oC. I am thinking that this is due to a small amount of solvent that was left behind with the product crystals after the recrystallization/filtration procedure that I had performed. I had left my product to dry for 15 minutes on a piece of filter paper placed on a Buchner funnel connected to a vacuum system (after I had filtered my recrystallized crystals), but apparently this was not sufficient. Is there any other/better way to dry my product to improve purity?
