Hi,
I would like to know how a Low Vacuum (not low voltage) SEM works. Why needn´t the sample be sputtered?

In the same way an optical mic would look at reflected light - the SEM looks at reflected electrons - the sample needs to be coated so that it will reflect the electrons.
They usually use a fine layer of gold or platinum I believe.

In Low Vac SEM, the Sample needn´t be coated. That´s why I want to know the trick behind this.
