How long does a topic remain noted as "new"?
« on: July 31, 2006, 01:36:19 PM »
I visit about once a day to see if there are any new topics and I find it virtually impossible to quickly see if there are any. For example, at the moment, there are 19 topics marked as new, even though some of them are dated as far back as May. Only one of those 19 is dated later than July 16th.

How long does an article remain marked as new?  What is the criteria by which a topic is deemed new or not new?

It is marked new if it contains posts that you have not seen yet. No time limit AFAIK.

Borek, thanks for the info. Now that I understand how it works, may I make a suggestion? It would be nice to have a button to click on that marks all messages in the forum as read. That way I don't have to read postings in topics that I have no interest in.  That is the way it is handled in the various engineering newsgroups and in many other online forums.
