reaction equation of hydrotalcite and HCl?

can anyone help with the balanced equation between hydrotalcite and HCL?

Mg Al (CO )(OH)16•4(H O) + HCl --> MgCl? + CO2 + H2O??

i know that doesn't look right at all...but i'I couldn't come up with anything better

I don't really know what hydrotalcite is, but somehow I think your formula for that substance is wrong. I have never seen a CO group before,

MgCl? is wrong. It ought to be MgCl2

Never heard about carbonyls?

Still you can be right about the formula. Hydrotalcite is a mineral and I have to see a carbonyl rock :)

I have never seen a carbonyl group in an inorganic compound (mineral salt).

Start with nickel:

But there are many others. CO is isoelectronic with CN- and as such is eager to complex metals.
