number density and average distance

I'd like to confirm a thought: The average distance between molecules in a gas is the cube root of the inverse of the number density of the gas.  Is this correct?

rho = N / V

take a cube of side L

rho = N / (L L L)

you are searching L /N, then

(L/N) = 1 / (L L rho)
