Is it possible to calculate the number of isomers for a organic compound like C3H6O??
I think that no formula has been created to calculate the no. of isomers in organic compounds. But for small molecules, like C3H6O it is easy to do it by trial. Theoratically, isomers of C3H6O should include an aldehyde C2H5COH, ketone CH3COCH3, ether CH3OCH=CH2, and (alcohols) HCOH=CHCH3, H2COHCH=CH2, CH3COH=CH2, but I'm not quite sure wheather all of the theoratically possible alcohols exist
