Question regarding the components of a chinese beauty product
« on: August 16, 2019, 03:16:13 AM »
Hello there,

I recently stumbled apon a product that is being sold alot on the internet in the past few weeks and I decided to go out there and find the components used in the product to determine if they are safe for use or not. This a nail polish remover for gel nails.

Does anyone know if these components are harmful in any way:

- Polyacrylic Acid
- Citric acid
- Thiourea
- Ethyl Alcoholl
- Sodium Hydroxid
- Sodium polyacrylate
- Distilled water

Hopefully someone can clarify if this product is dangerous or not.

Thank you for your time!

The only concern would be thiourea, which is a carcinogenic component. Sodium hydroxide is also a etching component. The question is how much is from everything in.

Depending on how much citric acid and polyacrylic acid is present relative to the sodium hydroxide, it might be acidic or basic.  You can use a little pH paper to test it.

Also: polyacrylic acid - sodium polyacrylate -sodium hydroxide make a buffer system.
