How to know which elements can combine in different ratios ?

I tried solving/understanding this question but unfortunately didnt get anything.

Is the answer (D) since whole ratio.

2. Which of the following could be used to illustrate the capability of two elements to combine in different ratios?
(A) CCI4 and CF4
(B) O2 and O3
(C) H20 and H2S
(D) NO2 and N204
(E) FeO and Fe203

Your choice is wrong. NO2 and N2O4 show the same ratio N:O=1:2 From this data, you have one possibility concerning two elements.

In which compounds, you have two different ratios of two elements? (example outside you problem: N2O, NO, NO2 and N2O5)
