In synthetic chemistry, much care is taken in maximising yield. Why is it then, that the last step in a synthesis is often evaporating off the solvent before literally scraping the product off the sides of the glassware? Surely there is a better way than this.
Depending on the compound, sometimes a significant amount of material is lost this way (if the compound is firmly stuck to the glass).
I feel like I am missing something, google just thinks I want to know about cleaning glassware.
Any replies are much appreciated, I created an account just to ask this question.
