On applications - need an information
« on: December 01, 2019, 04:53:38 PM »
I would like to apply for a one year postdoc position in materials chemistry at one University in the US. The call is currently open and I was told to submit a CV and an essay. I guess the essay is a kind of motivation letter.

When it comes to CV, what form is usually used in the US? Here in Europe we mostly use some standardized forms as Europass, where different sections are written as entries, mostly raw facts in various categories, without long text and sentences. On the other hand, I heard that in the UK they prefer CV written in the form of an essay. What kind of CV is used in the US in situations like applying for a postdoc?

Basically a long resume, broken down by sections. Definitely not an essay.

Definitely make sure there are no typos, and make it look attractive to the eye.
