I'm more confused what you mean by reactive. Most elements will react to water whether its the formation of a hydroxide or a simpler solvation reaction depends on the element.

Your question is just to vague, even at the high school level. It simply makes little sense. Mitch answered as best he could.

I think he wants to know some elements in their elemental form that induce a chemical change when in contact with water. I can name one. Sodium.

When you try to solve a physical problem mathematically, the solution zero or infinity is pretty quite useless.

The threadstarter's problem about elemental reactivity is of such nature.

In fact, the answer for his question can be phrased as "anything goes".

I might be able to help you:

1. Read a chemistry book
2. Look at the periodic table
3. Try the website, www.google.com or maybe wikipedia
4. Experimentation with different elements and water
5. Ask your teacher
6. Go to a lecture or poster presentation on reactivity of elements in their elemental form with water
7. Guess
8. Try the website www.chemicalforums.com and try asking the question in a better way

Sorry it seems I came across a bit obtrusive. And yes Mike sorry for YOUR inconvenience. I did check everywhere for the answer but it was a bit fuzzy so I thought I would use the master mind skills of all you gurus on the "high school chemistry help". I did find your dry humor very amusing though! (LOL)

What do you do for a living Mike are you a chemist? Doing what?

So, elements that are reactive with water. I would say: lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, caesium, and francium are the most reactive elements with water.

Thank you so much! My report was due a while back so I didn't actually use any of the elements. But from what you tell me it looks like I got a few right. It was just a matter of cracking out the good old WIKIPEDIA! I asked my chemistry professor and she said she wanted the elements that reacted MOST VIOLENTLY with water. A very useful fact that she failed to mention! Seeing as it was stated clearly stated on like page 5 of my book!! But than you for the generous help though.

Are there any "must see's" or "must do's" in Australia?
And also, apart from English are there any other predominant languages you all speak in Aystralia?
