When mercury sulfide decomposes,  does it form Hg(l) + S8?   Or Hg(l) + S(s)  ?

Sulphur S as element is found as a molecule of 8 amputations, written as S8.

In an equation its normally ok to use S even it is S8. You can also write 1/8 S8 to be on the safe side.
