An acid salt is a salt that is capable of acting as an acid - whether as a electron pair acceptor (lewis definiton) or a proton donor (bronsted definition)
However, this does not necessary mean the resultant solution is acidic because the acid salt can be a very weak acid and a strong base. This is especially true for acid salts derrived from dibasic and tribasic acids.
