Other than making tartarate salts and acid-base extractions, what are some other uses of tartaric acid?

I´ve used for chiral resolution by formation of diastereomeric salts (using benzoylated derivatives of TA), quenching LiAlH4 with NaK salt of TA, its used as a backbone of various chiral catalysts and ligands such as TADDOL derivatives, its used as  an additive for Sharpless epoxidation.

Its also a suitable chiral building block for synthesis since it contains two stereocenters and the acids can be easily modified into other functional groups

I think you can make a reagent from diethyl tartrate and sodium borohydride and this can reduce ketones to chiral alcohols.

It's the primary acid in grape wine. It sometimes is added to other wines to balance the acidity and to give the wine a bit more acid if it needs it. I typically use acid blend which is a blend of tartaric, malic and citric acid, but tartaric acid can be used alone if you want to.
