Cu2O Unit Cell
«

Hi,
I was just wondering what shape the Cu+ ions (ignoring oxygen) form in the Cu2O lattice (image attached). I was thinking that it is Body-Centred Cubic however I'm not sure.
Thanks,

Try drawing out a unit cell of simple cubic, BCC and FCC. See if you can find in any of them a tetrahedral arrangement of atoms such as you see for the Cu atoms in the Cu
2
O unit cell.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I just tried drawing it out and it still seems to be BCC.

Well, the O atoms in that unit cell are clearly BCC. Do you see a regular tetrahedron of O's anywhere?
