IUPAC/Compound Labeling Comprehension Check Request
« on: April 07, 2024, 02:01:34 PM »
Dear chemical forums, we recently got into our IUPAC/compound labeling unit, and I feel like I completed this worksheet work way too fast, and that I may have done something wrong. If you could please check my work, I would greatly appreciate it.

I think everything is straight-forward, but maybe question #2 is not so I will explain my reasoning for why I picked the answers that I did. There is a carboxamide, indicating an amide group (mide) is present. The oxygen with the furan ring acts as an ether, being part of a ring structure with two carbon atoms adjacent to it. The benzene part of the benzofuran structure is aromatic.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Looks all correct.

Thank you Hunter2! I appreciate you. One question though. For question 4, is that the proper condensed formula? I think I may have done that wrong. I think it is supposed to be written as: CH3CHBrCHBrCH3, but would appreciate your confirmation! Thanks in advance for your *delete me*

You have to write the shorts one = condensed formula.

C4H8Br2 , what you wrote is similar like the structure formula, without bondings.
