What fuel to burn on a mini Hibachi without poison byproduct by cooking over an open flame?

I guess I would need something that is clean burning and does not produce a poisonous chemical byproduct.

Would something like a denatured alcohol work? I have something called 99.5 Ethyl Alcohol denatured 40-B 200 proof active ingredients Ethyl Alcohol, Tert-Butyl Alcohol. Would that work?

Any ideas?

Yes, it would work. It's also called spirit alcohol.

Sterno.

Although every fuel will probably give some specific taste, different from charcoal.
