Fisher-tropsch reaction is a way to convert synthesis gas (CO from charcoal or Natural gas or other carbon-containing resorces) into long-chain hydrocarbons or aliphatic alcohol, aldehyde by catalyzed hydrogenation under high pressure. That's GTL (gas to liquid) process. The reaction can be written in simplied form: CO+H2 ---> -CH2- +H2O
The ratio of products varis with conditions. High pressure usually gives mainly oxygenated products and additional olefins. Normal pressure leads mainly to hydrocarbons.
