Could anyone one tell me why does the meso-hydrobenzoin that i have obtained in the lab, when further process with H2SO4 and acetone and potassium carbonate produces very yield of acetonide? what is the mechanism of this chemical reaction...

I really hope someone could answer the posted question above, to enlighten me... Thank you very much.
