question about drawing ---stereoisomers that have 1 or 2 asymmetrical sp3
carbons.
1,3-dichloro-2-butanol.
sp3 carbons(C2 and C3) connect to each other by single bond and each sp3
carbon has 3 substituents.
C2: ClCH2, H and OH
C3: Cl, H and CH3
My question:
when you draw in perspective formula, there are one hatched wedge (away
from you) , one bold line (toward you) and one regular line to each
substituents from the sp3 carbon.
I am not sure which substituents should go to which line... hatch, bold,
or regular, and can you explain why it works that way???
