the reaction you can see in the attached file can be done in three steps.
i suggest:
I. formation of nitrite-ester
II.barton reaction (see attached)
III.barton-mccombie (desoxygenation of c11)
now my question:  how can i ensure that c18 (not c19) is functionalized in the barton reaction ??
