Nominations for Best Chemistry Blog 2006
« on: December 10, 2006, 09:32:58 PM »
Anyone actually reading this realizes that the chemical blogging community has exploded in the past year. So I say we take a vote on whose ramblings have wasted our research time the most for 2006. This thread is for nominating chemistry bloggers. Feel free to nominate as many blogs as you want, including yourself. The nomination process will last for 5-days. After the nominating process a new entry will be posted that contains a poll for everyone to vote for their favorite chemistry bloggers. The poll will close Dec. 30th 2006.

The winner will receive a pretty .gif image proclaiming their superior chemical blogging supremacy and some other perks I'm working on.

Who will you nominate?

Mitch

Note 1:Chemical Forums' blog, if it can be called that, is not a valid entry for obvious conflict's of interest.

Note 2: Sorry for the lack of recent updates, end of semester crunch so to speak.

Edit 1: Added the .gif file to the post.

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

I'll second The Half Decent Pharmaceutical Chemistry Blog. I almost used the calcium channel blocker post for a stupid report I had to do about calcium.

No need to nominate someone who is already nominated. But, Albert does have a nice blog. :)

I'll start it out. I nominate The Chem Blog, The Half Decent Pharmaceutical Chemistry Blog, Carbon-Based Curiosities, ChemBark.

Awww.  You rock!
I'm a little reluctant to do this because there are soooo many I like, but I'll nominate Whistling in the Wind, Hdreioplus and Post Doc Ergo Propter Doc.  I think Mike's a biologist, else I'd nominate him too, but Miketionary totally deserves something for awesome randomness.

My nominations are ChemBark, Totally Synthetic, KinasePro and The Disgruntled Chemist.

I don't think it's fair to put my blog in the list.

You should inform of this award all the important bloggers out there: this would increase its importance.

Its importance is already high because it's on chemical forums. :p

Although I'm not a total synthesis dood, I nominate Totally Synthetic because he puts in so much work into detailing disconnections, new methodologies, interesting connections, and so on. He gets ME excited about total synthesis. I love it.

OK...Brooks...is that you who voted for ChemBark six times?  There are so many other chem blogs out there that are more deserving.  We should be disqualified from the 2006 voting for barely being a month old.

::) You also had The Endless Frontier, which was pretty good, so I'd leave ChemBark up there.  (I'll admit to liking it more than the other.)  A week ago I would have been surprised that Half-Decent PharmaChem was so popular, but then I started reading it, and, um, it's pretty awesome.
(I'm also surprised that anyone is voting for CBC...it's nice to be appreciated, though)

Albert is guilty of false advertising; his blog is more-than-half decent.  ;D
