Stare Into The Future: Preview Future C&EN Articles
« on: January 26, 2007, 02:15:39 AM »
Chemical and Engineering News' website has many little hidden secrets unbeknown to mere mortals. One of the coolest is the ability to read C&EN articles before they are circulated on their main webpage. The current issue of C&EN is volume 85 issue 4 and can be accessed by viewing this url: http://pubs.acs.org/cen/currentissue.html. But, you could also view the same online issue by accessing this link: http://pubs.acs.org/subscribe/journals/cen/85/i04/toc/toc_i04.html. Once you know the url structure you can hypothesize what the next issues' url will be and access it by this url: http://pubs.acs.org/subscribe/journals/cen/85/i05/toc/toc_i05.html.

Look into the future and it will stare back at you!

I bring this up because the resident C&EN staffer that reads this blog has her opinion editorial in this issue.

Enjoy the time-warp. Special congrats to Albert for getting his awesome The Half Decent Pharmaceutical Chemistry Blog getting listed. ?*?'s site is conspicuously anonymously missing...  ;)

Note 1: There are no other secret things at the C&EN's website. I just said that to make myself sound cooler than I really am.

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

If you want to get technical, I have two.  CBC is the only one worth reading, though.
