Solubility Problem
« on: February 19, 2007, 01:53:44 PM »
This question is seriously pisssing me off. My textbook doesn't give me enough information to answer this question so I'm turning it over to you folks, hopefully to my avail.

Choose all the correct statements below.

A)Al2O3 has high solubility in water.
B)Na2SO4 has low solubility in C6H14 .
C)HF has high solubility in water.
D)S8 has high solubility in water.
E)HCl has low solubility in water.
F)P4 has high solubility in CCl4.

I'm pretty sure A, B, and C are true and E is false. But the rest I'm unsure of. Any help greatly appreciated.

S8 cannot form hydrogen bonds.  Water has this certain feature.  If this is true, what do you think this means for S8 and its solubility in water?

CCl4 is an inert solvent.
