transition metal complexes
« on: April 15, 2007, 04:40:55 PM »
hi,
is anybody able to check my equations for the following preperation of transition metal complexes:

a) tris(1,2-diaminoethane)nickel(2) chloride

experimentally, we had nickel chloride hexahydrate, added  1,2-diaminoethane (en), water, evaporated,added ethanol for crystal growth and then filtered/washed to collect the crystals.dryed

Nicl2 + 3en -> [Ni(en)3 cl2]

b) tris(pentane-2,4-dionato)iron(3)

experimentally had Fecl3.6h20 added pentane-2,4-dione in ethanol, followed by ch3coona.h20, heated cooled, filtered added ethanol and dryed.

Fecl3 + 3(CH3COCH2COCH3) -> [Fe(CH3COCH2COCH3)]

c) Tetraethylammonium Tetrabromocobaltate(2)

CoBr2.6h20 in ethanol, and tetraethylammonium bromide, Et4NBr in ethanol. Warmed, cooled, filtered.added ethanol, evaporated and then dried.

CoBr2 + 2Et4Nbr -> (NEt4)2[CoBr4]

worried i should be including the water..
thanks
