Density
« on: May 12, 2007, 06:29:18 PM »
Hi all,

Trying to find the density of ethyl acetoacetate but its in none of my text books or chem data books, found a few values on the web but dont trust them too much.  the web values are 1.021g/cm^3, if anyone has a data book could they please let me know wat the value is (with units)

Cheers

Or you can measure it by yourself with a pipette or something and an accurate balance.
No single thing abides, but all things flow.
Fragment to fragment clings, and thus they grow
Until we know and name them.
Then by degrees they change and are no more
The things we know.

By the way, if you're looking for the density to calculate what volume of ethyl acetoacetate to use in a reaction, you need not bother. It's usually easier and more accurate to weigh out the quantity you need directly on a balance.

You'll have to click "Single Record" then "Properties".
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
