Organic Chemical Equations - help needed please!
« on: May 27, 2007, 10:33:19 AM »
Hi

Anyone know how to write correctly the molecular formular for propanone 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone??

(product of reaction between propanone and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine)

I Got this far:

C3H6O + C6H3(NO2)2NHNH2 --> ?

Thanks

(CH3)2C=O + NH2-NH-C6H3(NO2)2 -----> (CH3)2C=N-NH-C6H3(NO2)2 + H2O  ;D

please :)

PS.: It is a test for the carbonyl group. Positive test giving a yellow/orange ppt of a hydrazone

2 [Ag(NH3)2]+ + CH3-CH2-CH2-CHO + 2 OH- → 2 Ag + CH3-CH2-CH2-COOH + H2O + 4 NH3

U R welcome ;)
