Good evening!
I hope this question isn't too stupid, but I am supposed to find the pH-value in a 0,010 M solution of CH3COONa. I figured I need the kPb to solve this, and in my book, the basicity of CH3COONa isn't listed, though, the basicity of CH3COO- is. I checked on wikipedia, and found that the basicity is the same for CH3COO- and CH3COONa. Surely there must be something very fundamental I have missed here? Why does the two have the same basicity? Doesn't the Na+-ion make any difference on the basicity?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Joachim
