Seperate Water??

i was curious... what compound can be add to H2O  so the elemets of water are seperated, but still in the same solution.?? Ex: H2? + ?O2

You can create H2 and O2 from water by using electrolysis.

i know that, if u use electrolysis, they become gases, but i want them to stay liquids, without having to cool, or compress it.

Your question makes no sense. You want to turn H2O into H2 + O2 yet you still also want it to be water? Or you want to produce liquid hydrogen and oxygen? If that is the case, pressure and temperature are the only way. The state of matter (solid, liquid, gas) while it is a function of the chemical structure, the current state it is in is a physical property (temperature and pressure).

no no, that's not what i want, im looking for a compound that can be added to H2O to produce an aquius solution. Basically a fill in the blank for a double or single displacement  reaction with water. so the Hydrogen will be in one compound and oxygen will be in the other....  XY + H2O -> XO + HY.

Water is in its lowest state... i mean without adding energy to break them appart first... i don't think adding any compound would separate water. Unless you are talking about some reactions requiring water....

What about sodium? Last I checked, adding it to water yields NaOH and H2.

Alkali metal and water reactions are highly exothermic, and are dangerous.

I wouldn't recommend for your purpose seeing as the alkali metals are expensive to get in their elemental form, and they are also very reactive.
