I have a waterborne polyurethane that we are distilling water from by short pass distillation under vacuum. the problem is that the mixture has to be pre-evacuated for a long time to degass it. If not then the vacuum causes the mixture to climb the walls of the flask and dump into the collection flask. There is no way around this due to the nature of the material.
Will boiling the mixture for several minutes remove all of the gas that is trapped and therefore eliminate the need to pre-evacuate?
