melting points of the mixture
« on: September 05, 2007, 02:43:38 AM »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem:
Given the melting points of pure urea and cinnamic acid are the same, what would be the effect on the melting range if equal amounts of the 2 were mixed?

Given that both display H-Bonding, I'm not sure what the effect would be if there wasn't a reaction.  If there was a reaction (amine (urea) acting as a base), I think the melting range should go up due to the full charges.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
