writing the name or the formula of compounds.
« on: September 13, 2007, 09:56:31 PM »
Hi,
So I am in chemistry 101 in college right now and am having a tough time with figuring out how to convert a formula to a compound and vice versa. Can anyone explain to me how you arrive at these answers in a step-by-step way, please?

 Cd(ClO4)2  =   Cadmium (II) perchlorate

 Ammonium nitrate   =   NH4NO3

I've read my notes and attempted to understand the concept but i am having trouble deciphering how to figure it out..

any help greatly appreciated.
