titrations
« on: October 04, 2007, 03:05:54 PM »
Am doing titrations and questions which relate to it at the minute. one of my questions is:

In a titration 25.0cm3 of 0.10Moldm-3 sodium hydroxide reacted with exactly 11.2cm3 of sulphuric acid. Work out the concentration of the acid.

I have got up to working out the moles of H2SO4 = 25x0.10/1000 = 0.0025

I am stuck and find it hard to get my head around questions like this. Any tips or help please?

I suppose you have to assume that the sulfuric acid is fully neutralized.

how may moles of OH- are necessary to neutralize 1 mole of sulfuric acid?

Then after you have the moles of sulfuric acid, concentration is easily obtained by dividing moles by volume.
